Bookkeeper
Summary of Position
The bookkeeper is responsible for maintaining our financial records, including purchases, sales, receipts and payments. This includes working closely with our accounting team to create and analyze financial reports and ensuring legal requirements compliance, process accounts payable and receivable and manage invoices and tax payments.
Key Accountabilities
Performs routine functions to ensure the company’s financial obligations are met in a timely and effective manner as it connects to the overall finances of the company.
- Responsible for maintaining all aspects of the general ledger
- Reconcile daily bank activity
- Prepare customer and vendor account reconciliations
- Prepare and post month end journal entries
- Prepare weekly and monthly reports as needed
- Assist with preparation of Federal and State Tax and Licensing
- Assist with month-end and year-end audits
- Performs backup functions to AR and AP Specialists, including, but not limited to invoice processing and collection efforts
Essential Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- The ability to effectively communicate in English
- Associate's degree in accounting or business administration
- At least 2 years of bookkeeping experience or a solid understanding of basic bookkeeping
- Able to prepare, review and understand a financial statement
- Strong grasp of GAAP accounting and general accounting concepts
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
- Strong Excel skills and knowledge of spreadsheets
- Experience with accounting software such as Microsoft Dynamics NAV preferred
- Food industry experience is a plus
